Tax Manager

Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Manager to join our clients growing team in Boston. The Tax Manager will play a critical role in managing tax compliance and consulting projects for a diverse portfolio of clients, while providing leadership and guidance to junior staff. Key Responsibilities:


  • Tax Compliance:
    • Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profits.
    • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and deadlines, and stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.

  • Tax Planning and Consulting:
    • Develop and implement tax strategies that optimize clients' tax positions and minimize liabilities.
    • Provide tax advisory services on various issues, including mergers and acquisitions, entity structuring, and international taxation.
    • Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to support recommendations.

  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing exceptional service.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, communicating complex tax issues in a clear and actionable manner.

  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing training and guidance to enhance their technical skills and professional growth.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback.

  • Quality Control:
    • Review work products for accuracy and compliance, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
    • Implement and maintain quality control standards within the tax department.

  • Business Development:
    • Identify opportunities for new services and client engagements, contributing to the firm's growth initiatives.
    • Participate in networking events, seminars, and workshops to enhance the firm's visibility and client base.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting preferred.

  • Certifications:
    • CPA designation required; additional certifications such as EA or MST are a plus.

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in tax compliance and consulting within a public accounting firm.
    • Proven experience managing multiple projects and client relationships.

  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
    • Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
