The Tax Manager will play a critical role in managing tax compliance and consulting projects for a diverse portfolio of clients, while providing leadership and guidance to junior staff. Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance:- Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profits.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and deadlines, and stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
Tax Planning and Consulting:- Develop and implement tax strategies that optimize clients' tax positions and minimize liabilities.
- Provide tax advisory services on various issues, including mergers and acquisitions, entity structuring, and international taxation.
- Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to support recommendations.
Client Relationship Management:- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing exceptional service.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, communicating complex tax issues in a clear and actionable manner.
Team Leadership and Development:- Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing training and guidance to enhance their technical skills and professional growth.
- Conduct performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback.
Quality Control:- Review work products for accuracy and compliance, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Implement and maintain quality control standards within the tax department.
Business Development:- Identify opportunities for new services and client engagements, contributing to the firm's growth initiatives.
- Participate in networking events, seminars, and workshops to enhance the firm's visibility and client base.
Qualifications:
Education:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting preferred.
Certifications:- CPA designation required; additional certifications such as EA or MST are a plus.
Experience:- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in tax compliance and consulting within a public accounting firm.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects and client relationships.
Skills:- In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
