Senior Tax Manager

Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Tax Manager to join our team in Connecticut. The Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing tax compliance and consulting services for a diverse client base, while leading a team of tax professionals. This position provides a unique opportunity to influence client strategies and drive the growth of our tax practice.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Tax Compliance and Reporting:
    • Oversee the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profits.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations and deadlines, identifying opportunities for tax savings.

  • Tax Planning and Advisory:
    • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize clients' tax positions and reduce liabilities.
    • Provide expert guidance on complex tax issues, including mergers and acquisitions, business structuring, and international taxation.
    • Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to support planning decisions.

  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, building and maintaining strong relationships to understand their unique needs.
    • Communicate tax planning strategies and results clearly to clients, ensuring they are informed and engaged in the process.
    • Identify opportunities for additional services to enhance client relationships and drive business growth.

  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead and mentor tax staff, providing training and support to foster their professional development.
    • Review work products for accuracy and compliance, providing constructive feedback to junior team members.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and contribute to team-building initiatives.

  • Quality Control and Compliance:
    • Ensure all tax engagements comply with firm policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Implement and monitor quality control measures to maintain high standards of service delivery.
    • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to inform clients and team members.

  • Business Development:
    • Participate in marketing efforts to promote the firm's tax services, including networking events and seminars.
    • Collaborate with partners and other departments to identify and pursue new business opportunities.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting preferred.

  • Certifications:
    • CPA designation required; additional certifications such as EA or MST are a plus.

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7-10 years of tax compliance and consulting experience in a public accounting environment.
    • Proven experience managing multiple projects and client relationships effectively.

  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
    • Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
