The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting various accounting functions, including financial statement preparation, tax compliance, and audit support. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Statement Preparation:- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Tax Compliance:- Support the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Assist in researching tax issues and maintaining knowledge of current tax regulations.
Audit Support:- Prepare work papers and schedules for audit engagements, ensuring compliance with auditing standards.
- Assist auditors in gathering information and documentation during the audit process.
Client Interaction:- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and address inquiries as needed.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing exceptional service and support.
Data Analysis and Reporting:- Conduct variance analysis and prepare reports to identify trends and discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of internal management reports and financial analysis.
Process Improvement:- Identify opportunities for process enhancements and efficiencies within accounting practices.
- Participate in the documentation and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Certifications:- CPA eligibility preferred; candidates pursuing CPA certification are encouraged to apply.
Experience:- 1-3 years of accounting experience in a public accounting environment or relevant internship experience.
Skills:- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
