Tax Supervisor

Job Summary:


We are currently partnered with an amazing CPA firm in Illinois, who are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Supervisor to join their dynamic tax team. The Tax Supervisor will oversee tax compliance and advisory services for a diverse client portfolio, mentor junior staff, and ensure the delivery of high-quality tax solutions. Key Responsibilities:


  • Tax Compliance Oversight:
    • Supervise the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profit organizations.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations and deadlines, identifying opportunities for tax savings.

  • Tax Planning and Advisory Services:
    • Assist in developing and implementing effective tax strategies for clients to optimize their tax positions.
    • Provide expert guidance on complex tax issues, including mergers and acquisitions, business structuring, and tax-efficient strategies.
    • Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to support planning decisions.

  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Serve as a primary contact for clients, addressing their inquiries and providing proactive solutions.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by delivering exceptional service and support.
    • Communicate tax strategies and compliance results clearly to clients and management.

  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Mentor and supervise junior tax staff, providing training and guidance to enhance their skills and professional development.
    • Review junior staff work for accuracy and completeness, offering constructive feedback and performance evaluations.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive team culture that promotes professional growth.

  • Quality Control and Compliance:
    • Ensure all tax engagements meet the firm's quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
    • Participate in internal reviews and quality control processes to maintain high levels of service quality.

  • Business Development:
    • Identify opportunities for additional services and assist in business development initiatives to expand the firm's tax practice.
    • Participate in marketing efforts, including networking events and seminars.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting preferred.

  • Certifications:
    • CPA designation required; additional certifications such as EA or MST are a plus.

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of tax compliance and consulting experience in a public accounting environment.
    • Proven experience managing multiple projects and client relationships effectively.

  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
    • Proficient in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
