Accounting Manager

Job Summary:


We are currently partnered with a prestigious CPA firm in Illinois who are seeking a skilled and results-oriented Accounting Manager to join their dynamic team. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and managing client relationships. Key Responsibilities:


  • Financial Reporting:
    • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results to clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Client Management:
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships.
    • Communicate effectively with clients to address inquiries and provide guidance on accounting matters.

  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff, providing training and support to enhance their professional growth.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, setting goals and objectives for team members.

  • Compliance and Internal Controls:
    • Ensure adherence to firm policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard client assets and maintain financial integrity.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to improve clients' financial performance.

  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and efficiencies within the accounting department.
    • Contribute to the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.

  • Quality Assurance:
    • Review work products for accuracy and completeness, ensuring the highest quality standards are met.
    • Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • Certifications:
    • CPA designation required; additional certifications such as CMA or CIA are a plus.

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience in public accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
    • Proven experience managing multiple clients and projects simultaneously.

  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
