Position Overview


We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Property Tax Manager to join our clients team in Oklahoma City. This role will be responsible for managing property tax assessments, appeals, and compliance for clients, with experience in the energy industry being a huge plus!!



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, or a similar field
  • Four to six years of experience in a consulting firm, specifically in property tax
  • TDLR License (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation) or other relevant certification/designation (e.g., CMI - Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation)
  • Experience in the energy industry is preferred


Responsibilities

  1. Manage property tax assessments and appeals for a portfolio of clients, primarily in Oklahoma and surrounding states
  2. Develop and implement strategies to minimize clients' property tax liabilities
  3. Conduct detailed analysis of property valuations, focusing on energy industry assets
  4. Prepare and present appeals to local tax authorities and at administrative hearings
  5. Negotiate with tax assessors and government officials to resolve property tax disputes
  6. Stay current with local and state property tax laws, regulations, and industry trends
  7. Manage and mentor junior staff members in property tax matters
  8. Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  9. Contribute to business development efforts and proposal writing
  10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive tax solutions for clients


Required Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of property tax laws and regulations, particularly in Oklahoma and surrounding states
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
  • Experience with property tax software and databases
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills


Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry assets and valuation methods
  • Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information System) software
  • Experience with data analytics tools and techniques
  • Understanding of other tax areas (e.g., sales and use tax, income tax) as they relate to property tax


Certifications

  • TDLR License required
  • CMI (Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation) or similar certification preferred
  • Additional relevant certifications (e.g., CPE, MAI) are a plus
