The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in tax preparation, compliance, and planning, with a strong ability to manage multiple client engagements and deliver high-quality service. This role is pivotal in providing tax-related expertise to our diverse client base, including individuals, corporations, and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Preparation and Compliance:

    • Prepare and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and various business entities.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations, identifying opportunities for tax savings and optimization.
  2. Client Management:

    • Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients, building and maintaining strong client relationships.
    • Provide proactive tax planning strategies and solutions tailored to individual client needs.
  3. Research and Analysis:

    • Stay updated on the latest tax legislation and trends to provide informed advice and recommendations.
    • Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues, delivering clear and actionable guidance to clients and team members.
  4. Mentoring and Training:

    • Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing guidance on tax preparation and professional development.
    • Assist in training and onboarding new team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  5. Project Management:

    • Manage multiple tax engagements simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of work within budget constraints.
    • Collaborate with other departments within the firm to coordinate client services and streamline processes.
  6. Audit Support:

    • Assist clients in preparing for tax audits, including gathering necessary documentation and responding to inquiries from tax authorities.
    • Represent clients during audits and work to resolve any issues that arise.
  7. Client Billing and Financial Management:

    • Prepare and review client invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to firm policies.
    • Monitor project budgets and track billable hours to maximize firm profitability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably within a CPA firm.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance.
  • Proficiency in tax software (e.g., ProConnect, Drake Tax) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with clients and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
