Job Overview:

Our client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Tax Manager to join our Maryland, Unitred States office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax compliance and planning, with the ability to lead a team and manage a diverse portfolio of clients. This role is essential for driving the growth of our tax practice while ensuring the delivery of exceptional service and strategic tax solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Compliance and Oversight:

    • Manage the preparation and review of complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations, identifying and mitigating risks while maximizing tax efficiency.
  2. Client Relationship Management:

    • Act as the main point of contact for assigned clients, developing and maintaining strong relationships based on trust and expertise.
    • Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services, delivering customized strategies to meet client needs and goals.
  3. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing guidance on technical issues, professional development, and performance evaluations.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment that encourages learning and innovation.
  4. Project Management:

    • Oversee multiple client engagements, ensuring timely delivery of services while maintaining budgetary constraints.
    • Coordinate with other departments and professionals within the firm to provide comprehensive and integrated client solutions.
  5. Research and Technical Expertise:

    • Stay current on changes in tax laws, regulations, and best practices to provide informed advice to clients and team members.
    • Conduct thorough research on complex tax matters, delivering clear and actionable insights.
  6. Audit and Compliance Support:

    • Assist clients during tax audits, preparing necessary documentation and effectively communicating with tax authorities.
    • Develop and implement strategies to resolve tax disputes and issues as they arise.
  7. Financial Management and Billing:

    • Prepare and review client invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm policies.
    • Monitor engagement budgets and track billable hours to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation required.
  • 6-8 years of experience in tax accounting, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a public accounting firm.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in tax software (e.g., ProConnect, Drake Tax) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building strong relationships with clients and team members.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
