Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance and Preparation:
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, identifying potential issues and providing solutions.
Client Engagement:
- Act as a primary contact for assigned clients, developing and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Provide tailored tax planning strategies to clients, including insights on tax-saving opportunities.
Research and Technical Guidance:
- Conduct thorough research on complex tax issues and legislation to provide clients with accurate and timely advice.
- Stay informed of changes in tax laws and their implications for clients and the firm.
Mentorship and Supervision:
- Mentor and oversee the work of junior staff, providing guidance on tax preparation and professional development.
- Assist in training new team members, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Project Management:
- Manage multiple tax engagements simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to deliver integrated client services.
Audit Support:
- Assist clients during tax audits, preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Provide support in resolving tax issues and disputes as they arise.
Billing and Financial Oversight:
- Prepare and review client invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm policies.
- Track billable hours and monitor project budgets to maximize profitability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tax accounting, ideally within a public accounting firm.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance.
- Proficient in tax software (e.g., ProConnect, Drake Tax) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts clearly.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
