Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Compliance and Preparation:

    • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, identifying potential issues and providing solutions.
  2. Client Engagement:

    • Act as a primary contact for assigned clients, developing and maintaining strong professional relationships.
    • Provide tailored tax planning strategies to clients, including insights on tax-saving opportunities.
  3. Research and Technical Guidance:

    • Conduct thorough research on complex tax issues and legislation to provide clients with accurate and timely advice.
    • Stay informed of changes in tax laws and their implications for clients and the firm.
  4. Mentorship and Supervision:

    • Mentor and oversee the work of junior staff, providing guidance on tax preparation and professional development.
    • Assist in training new team members, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  5. Project Management:

    • Manage multiple tax engagements simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgetary constraints.
    • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to deliver integrated client services.
  6. Audit Support:

    • Assist clients during tax audits, preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries from tax authorities.
    • Provide support in resolving tax issues and disputes as they arise.
  7. Billing and Financial Oversight:

    • Prepare and review client invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm policies.
    • Track billable hours and monitor project budgets to maximize profitability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tax accounting, ideally within a public accounting firm.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance.
  • Proficient in tax software (e.g., ProConnect, Drake Tax) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts clearly.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
