Job Overview:

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Tax Supervisor to join our North Carolina, United States office. This leadership role is designed for an experienced tax professional who is ready to take on increased responsibilities in managing client engagements, guiding a team, and providing strategic tax planning solutions. The Tax Supervisor will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality of service for our diverse clientele while fostering a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Compliance and Preparation:

    • Supervise the preparation and review of complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
    • Ensure that all returns comply with applicable laws and regulations, identifying areas for risk management and tax savings.
  2. Client Relationship Management:

    • Act as the primary contact for a portfolio of clients, building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
    • Provide comprehensive tax planning and advisory services tailored to client needs, including strategies for minimizing tax liabilities.
  3. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop junior staff and interns, providing ongoing training and performance feedback.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment that encourages professional growth and continuous learning.
  4. Project Management:

    • Oversee multiple tax engagements simultaneously, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
    • Coordinate with other departments and professionals within the firm to deliver integrated services to clients.
  5. Research and Technical Expertise:

    • Stay up-to-date with the latest tax legislation and developments to ensure compliance and provide informed advice.
    • Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues and effectively communicate findings to clients and team members.
  6. Audit Support and Compliance:

    • Assist clients in preparing for and managing tax audits, including the preparation of necessary documentation and communication with tax authorities.
    • Develop strategies to resolve tax disputes and issues as they arise.
  7. Billing and Financial Management:

    • Prepare and review client billing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm policies.
    • Monitor engagement budgets and billable hours to enhance profitability and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on public accounting preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance.
  • Proficient in tax software (e.g., ProConnect, Drake Tax) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with clients and team members.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
