Tax Senior


We are seeking an experienced Tax Senior to join our clients fast - growing CPA firm in Manhattan. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in individual and partnership tax preparation, excellent project management skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff while managing complex client relationships.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple tax engagements simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of tax returns and related deliverables while maintaining high quality standards
  • Review tax returns and workpapers prepared by staff accountants, including complex individual returns (Form 1040) and partnership returns (Form 1065)
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and provide strategic tax advice to clients
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff members, fostering their professional development
  • Communicate directly with clients to gather information, discuss tax positions, and resolve complex tax issues
  • Stay current with federal and state tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Assist in developing and implementing process improvements within the tax department
  • Participate in business development initiatives and client relationship management


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 3+ years of public accounting experience with a focus on tax preparation and planning
  • CPA license or actively working toward CPA certification
  • Extensive experience preparing and reviewing Forms 1040 and 1065
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws, particularly for NY and surrounding states
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software (UltraTax, ProSystem fx Tax, or similar)
  • Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting
  • Experience with multi-state tax returns
  • Knowledge of trust and estate taxation
  • Experience with tax research software (RIA Checkpoint, CCH IntelliConnect)
