Tax Senior
We are seeking an experienced Tax Senior to join our clients fast - growing CPA firm in Manhattan. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in individual and partnership tax preparation, excellent project management skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff while managing complex client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple tax engagements simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of tax returns and related deliverables while maintaining high quality standards
- Review tax returns and workpapers prepared by staff accountants, including complex individual returns (Form 1040) and partnership returns (Form 1065)
- Identify tax planning opportunities and provide strategic tax advice to clients
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff members, fostering their professional development
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, discuss tax positions, and resolve complex tax issues
- Stay current with federal and state tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
- Assist in developing and implementing process improvements within the tax department
- Participate in business development initiatives and client relationship management
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 3+ years of public accounting experience with a focus on tax preparation and planning
- CPA license or actively working toward CPA certification
- Extensive experience preparing and reviewing Forms 1040 and 1065
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws, particularly for NY and surrounding states
- Proficiency with tax preparation software (UltraTax, ProSystem fx Tax, or similar)
- Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting
- Experience with multi-state tax returns
- Knowledge of trust and estate taxation
- Experience with tax research software (RIA Checkpoint, CCH IntelliConnect)
