Tax Manager


Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead and elevate our clients tax practice in Chicago. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong leadership skills to drive client success and firm growth.
Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex tax compliance and planning engagements for corporate, partnership, and high-net-worth individual clients across diverse industries
  • Develop and implement sophisticated tax strategies that optimize client tax positions while ensuring full regulatory compliance
  • Manage and review multi-state and federal tax returns with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Conduct advanced tax research and provide expert guidance on emerging tax legislation and regulatory changes
  • Supervise and mentor tax staff, including performance management, professional development, and team leadership
  • Serve as the primary client relationship manager for key accounts, demonstrating exceptional communication and problem-solving skills
  • Participate actively in business development efforts, including client prospecting, proposal preparation, and strategic networking
  • Collaborate with partners and practice leaders to drive firm strategic initiatives and practice growth
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to firm and regulatory standards in all tax engagements


Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required
  • 5-7 years of progressive tax management experience in public accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Proven track record of managing complex tax compliance and planning projects
  • Advanced analytical and technical tax expertise
  • Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities
  • Strong client relationship management skills


Technical Competencies:

  • Advanced tax planning and compliance techniques
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate, partnership, and individual taxation
  • Proficiency in professional tax preparation software (e.g., ProSystem fx, UltraTax)
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
