We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Tax Accountant to join our clients growing professional team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in preparing and reviewing tax returns, conducting tax research, and providing strategic tax planning advice to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and non-profit tax returns with accuracy and attention to detail
- Conduct comprehensive tax research to identify potential deductions, credits, and tax optimization strategies
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary financial information and explain complex tax concepts
- Assist in tax planning and advisory services for both individual and business clients
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Assist in annual tax planning and quarterly estimated tax calculations
- Ensure compliance with all IRS and state tax regulations
- Participate in client meetings and provide professional tax consultation
- Collaborate with team members to meet client deadlines and maintain high-quality standards
- Utilize professional tax preparation software and modern accounting technologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA license or actively pursuing CPA certification
- 2-4 years of tax preparation experience in a public accounting firm
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (ProSeries, Lacerte, or CCH preferred)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with professional tax preparation software
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and tax code
