Staff Tax Accountant

Position Summary


We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Tax Accountant to join our clients growing professional team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in preparing and reviewing tax returns, conducting tax research, and providing strategic tax planning advice to our clients.



Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and non-profit tax returns with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Conduct comprehensive tax research to identify potential deductions, credits, and tax optimization strategies
  • Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary financial information and explain complex tax concepts
  • Assist in tax planning and advisory services for both individual and business clients
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
  • Assist in annual tax planning and quarterly estimated tax calculations
  • Ensure compliance with all IRS and state tax regulations
  • Participate in client meetings and provide professional tax consultation
  • Collaborate with team members to meet client deadlines and maintain high-quality standards
  • Utilize professional tax preparation software and modern accounting technologies


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA license or actively pursuing CPA certification
  • 2-4 years of tax preparation experience in a public accounting firm
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software (ProSeries, Lacerte, or CCH preferred)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail


Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with professional tax preparation software
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and tax code
