We are seeking a talented Tax Senior to play a critical role in our clients tax practice. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between staff-level accountants and senior management, taking on increased responsibilities in tax preparation, client management, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profit organizations
- Supervise and review work completed by junior staff, providing technical guidance and mentorship
- Conduct thorough tax research to identify potential deductions, credits, and tax optimization strategies
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies for clients
- Manage multiple client engagements with strict attention to deadlines and quality standards
- Assist in client meetings and provide intermediate-level tax consultation
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather financial information and explain tax implications
- Support senior management in client relationship management
- Stay current with changes in tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards
- Participate in quality control and internal review processes
- Assist in training and developing junior accounting staff
- Contribute to the firm's efficiency and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA license or actively pursuing CPA certification
- 3-5 years of tax preparation experience in a public accounting firm
- Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
- Proven ability to manage and review complex tax returns
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and communication capabilities
- High level of professional integrity and attention to detail
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in tax preparation software (ProSeries, Lacerte, or CCH preferred)
- Expert-level Microsoft Excel and Office Suite skills
- In-depth understanding of tax preparation for various entity types
- Ability to use accounting and tax research databases
- Familiarity with tax planning and optimization strategies
