Senior Auditor - Nonprofit Specialization



Position Overview


My client is seeking an experienced Senior Auditor with specific expertise in nonprofit audit engagements to join their team in Dedham, MA. The ideal candidate will leverage their nonprofit audit experience to lead engagements, mentor staff, and deliver exceptional service to our nonprofit client base.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead audit engagements for various nonprofit organizations including foundations, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, religious organizations, and social service agencies
  • Plan audit engagements, develop audit programs, and execute risk assessment procedures specific to nonprofit entities
  • Supervise and mentor audit staff, providing guidance on nonprofit-specific auditing procedures and regulations
  • Review workpapers prepared by staff to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with professional standards
  • Identify and communicate accounting and internal control issues to clients, including recommendations for improvement
  • Draft financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit-specific reporting requirements
  • Ensure compliance with requirements related to single audits under Uniform Guidance
  • Maintain current knowledge of changes in nonprofit accounting standards (ASC 958) and federal/state regulations affecting nonprofit organizations
  • Collaborate with partners and managers on complex technical issues and client relationship management
  • Participate in business development activities and proposals for nonprofit prospects


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of public accounting experience with significant focus on nonprofit audit engagements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA license preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in nonprofit accounting principles, including revenue recognition, contribution accounting, and net asset classifications
  • Experience with single audits and compliance requirements under Uniform Guidance
  • Strong understanding of Form 990 and other nonprofit tax filings
  • Proficiency with audit software, engagement management tools, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build strong client relationships and manage multiple engagements simultaneously


Location


This position is based in our Dedham, MA office. Candidates must reside within commutable distance to Dedham. The office is conveniently located near major transportation routes serving the greater Boston metropolitan area.
