They are currently seeking a detail-oriented Staff Tax Accountant to join their growing team in the Brooklyn office.



Position Overview


As a Staff Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing tax returns and providing tax support services for clients under the guidance of senior staff and managers. This position offers excellent opportunities for professional growth while developing technical expertise in various aspects of tax accounting.



Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and LLCs
  • Conduct tax research on routine issues and document findings
  • Assist with tax planning and projections for clients
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical client files
  • Respond to notices from taxing authorities
  • Support senior staff with client communications and requests
  • Prepare and review basic financial statements for client tax purposes
  • Identify potential tax issues and bring them to the attention of supervisors
  • Participate in client meetings when appropriate
  • Maintain and expand knowledge of tax regulations and updates


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 2-4 years of tax preparation experience, preferably in a public accounting setting
  • Knowledge of individual and business tax regulations
  • Experience with tax preparation software (CCH ProSystem fx, UltraTax, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
  • QuickBooks experience preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license or actively pursuing CPA certification
  • Experience with New York state and city tax regulations
  • Prior experience in a public accounting firm

  • Professional office setting in Brooklyn, NY
  • Onsite work schedule
  • Extended hours required during tax season (January-April)
