Position Overview


As an Audit Senior, you will play a pivotal role in planning and executing audit engagements while supervising staff accountants and interacting directly with clients. Key Responsibilities



Engagement Management

  • Lead multiple audit engagements simultaneously with appropriate supervision
  • Plan audit approaches, develop audit programs, and establish time budgets
  • Execute audit procedures in accordance with firm methodology and professional standards
  • Prepare and review financial statements and related disclosures
  • Identify and communicate accounting and auditing issues to managers and partners
  • Document work papers that comply with professional standards and firm policies
  • Complete engagements within budget and timeline constraints


Team Leadership

  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff accountants on engagement teams
  • Review staff work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with professional standards
  • Provide timely performance feedback to staff during and after engagements
  • Foster teamwork and collaboration within engagement teams


Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients during audit engagements
  • Communicate effectively with client personnel at various levels
  • Identify and communicate potential business issues and opportunities to engagement managers
  • Demonstrate professional skepticism while maintaining positive client relationships
  • Anticipate client needs and provide exceptional service


Professional Development

  • Stay current on relevant accounting and auditing standards and regulations
  • Participate in continuing professional education and firm training programs
  • Contribute to the firm's growth through involvement in business development activities


Qualifications



Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Active CPA license in Connecticut (or ability to obtain through reciprocity)
  • 3-5 years of public accounting experience with a focus on audit engagements
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and other relevant professional standards
  • Experience with audit software and paperless environments
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Leadership experience with the ability to supervise and develop staff


Preferred

  • Master's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Experience with clients in Connecticut-based industries
  • Proficiency with CCH, Caseware, or similar audit software
  • Industry specialization in one or more of our key service areas


Work Environment

  • Travel to client locations throughout Connecticut
  • Overtime required during busy season (typically January-April)
