Position Overview


The Audit Senior will play a critical role in managing audit engagements, supervising staff, and delivering high-quality audit services to our clients. Key Responsibilities



Engagement Management

  • Lead audit teams for assigned engagements across various industries
  • Develop and execute comprehensive audit plans and risk assessment strategies
  • Supervise and review work of audit associates and staff
  • Conduct detailed testing of financial statements and internal controls
  • Prepare and review complex audit workpapers and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards (GAAS, GAAP)
  • Manage multiple audit engagements simultaneously
  • Maintain accurate and timely engagement billing and documentation


Technical Expertise

  • Perform sophisticated audit procedures and analytical reviews
  • Identify and resolve complex accounting and auditing issues
  • Conduct thorough research on accounting standards and technical matters
  • Prepare financial statement analysis and audit findings
  • Draft management communication letters
  • Stay current with evolving accounting and auditing standards
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff members


Client Interaction

  • Serve as primary point of contact for assigned clients during audit fieldwork
  • Communicate effectively with client management and finance teams
  • Explain complex accounting and auditing concepts clearly
  • Represent the firm professionally in client meetings
  • Identify potential additional service opportunities
  • Maintain and develop client relationships


Team Leadership

  • Mentor and train junior audit staff
  • Provide constructive performance feedback
  • Assist in staff performance evaluations
  • Develop junior staff technical and professional skills
  • Demonstrate leadership in team problem-solving
  • Support recruitment and staff development initiatives


Qualifications



Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 3-5 years of public accounting audit experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial statement audits
  • Proficiency with audit software (CCH, Engagement, CaseWare)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • CPA license or actively pursuing certification
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel to client sites (typically 30-50%)


Preferred

  • Experience with government contractors
  • Nonprofit audit experience
  • Master's degree in Accounting
  • Knowledge of specific industry accounting standards
  • Experience with internal control assessments
  • QuickBooks proficiency
  • Experience with single audits


Technical Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAS and GAAP
