Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join our expanding assurance practice in Kennesaw. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of public accounting experience with a strong foundation in audit services and excellent leadership abilities. This role offers the opportunity to manage multiple client engagements, develop junior staff, and contribute to the continued growth of our firm while serving clients throughout the greater Atlanta metropolitan area.
Key Responsibilities
Client Service & Engagement Management
- Plan and execute audit, review, and compilation engagements in accordance with professional standards and firm methodology
- Coordinate with engagement teams, including staff, supervisors, and partners throughout all phases of client engagements
- Oversee the preparation of engagement letters, planning documents, risk assessments, and final deliverables
- Manage multiple concurrent engagements while ensuring consistent quality and timely completion
- Exercise independent professional judgment when addressing technical and operational challenges
Technical Expertise
- Maintain thorough understanding of GAAP, GAAS, and other relevant professional standards
- Identify and communicate significant accounting and auditing matters to engagement leadership
- Apply technical knowledge to resolve complex accounting issues and ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Develop deep industry expertise relevant to the firm's client base
- Stay current with emerging accounting and auditing developments and their impact on client engagements
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate audit associates and seniors
- Review work performed by engagement team members, providing constructive feedback and guidance
- Foster a collaborative environment that promotes professional development and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to staff training initiatives and the development of audit methodologies
- Identify opportunities to improve engagement efficiency while maintaining quality standards
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients throughout the engagement process
- Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with client personnel at all levels
- Communicate effectively with clients to obtain necessary information while minimizing disruption to their operations
- Present and explain audit findings, financial statements, and recommendations to client management
- Identify opportunities to provide additional value-added services based on client needs
Business Development
- Support firm growth initiatives through exceptional client service and relationship building
- Participate in professional and community organizations to enhance the firm's visibility
- Contribute to proposal development and client presentations as needed
- Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients
Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required)
- Master's degree in Accounting or equivalent (preferred)
- Active CPA license or currently pursuing certification (required)
- Georgia CPA license or ability to obtain reciprocity (preferred)
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation (preferred)
Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of progressive audit experience in a public accounting setting
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple audit engagements simultaneously
- Experience supervising and developing staff
- Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and other relevant standards
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with audit software and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to travel within the greater Atlanta metropolitan area (approximately 30%)
