Position Overview


We are seeking a CPA-licensed Audit Supervisor to join our growing audit practice. This role offers the opportunity to lead audit engagements, manage client relationships, and supervise audit teams while working with diverse clients across multiple industries. The ideal candidate will have solid public accounting experience, strong technical skills, and demonstrated leadership abilities.



Key Responsibilities



Engagement Leadership & Management

  • Plan, execute, and supervise audit, review, and compilation engagements for clients with revenues ranging from $5M to $100M
  • Manage 8-12 audit engagements annually across various industries including manufacturing, healthcare, technology, non-profits, and professional services
  • Develop comprehensive audit strategies and risk assessments for assigned engagements
  • Coordinate engagement timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Serve as primary client contact for day-to-day engagement matters
  • Prepare and present audit findings and recommendations to client management


Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise and mentor audit teams of 3-5 professionals including seniors and staff accountants
  • Conduct on-the-job training and provide real-time feedback to team members
  • Review work papers, financial statements, and audit documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Evaluate team member performance and contribute to annual reviews
  • Assist with recruiting and interviewing potential audit staff
  • Foster a positive team environment and promote professional development


Technical Excellence & Quality Control

  • Ensure all audit work complies with GAAS, GAAP, and firm quality standards
  • Perform complex audit procedures including analytical reviews, substantive testing, and internal control evaluations
  • Research technical accounting and auditing issues using professional literature
  • Prepare detailed audit memos and technical documentation
  • Review and approve financial statements and audit reports
  • Maintain current knowledge of auditing standards and industry developments


Client Relations & Business Development

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with client management and boards of directors
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and collaborate with partners on client expansion
  • Participate in proposal preparation and new client presentations
  • Attend client meetings, board meetings, and industry events
  • Provide accounting and operational consulting to audit clients
  • Handle client inquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally


Required Qualifications



Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA license in Colorado (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • 150 credit hours completed to meet CPA education requirements


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of public accounting audit experience
  • Experience with publicly-held, privately-held, and non-profit audit clients
  • Proven supervisory experience managing audit teams
  • Multi-industry audit experience across various client sizes
  • Financial statement preparation and review experience


Technical Skills

  • Expert knowledge of GAAS, GAAP, and audit methodology
  • Proficiency with audit software (CaseWare, TeamMate, or similar platforms)
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting systems
  • Knowledge of internal control evaluation and SOX compliance
  • Experience with accounting research databases (FASB Codification, AICPA resources)
  • Understanding of various entity types (C-Corp, S-Corp, LLC, Partnership, Non-profit)

  • Knowledge of Colorado state and local regulations
  • International audit or reporting experience
  • Advanced degree or additional certifications (CIA, CISA, etc.)
  • Previous experience at regional or national CPA firm
