Position Overview


Our client is seeking an elite CPA-licensed Senior Tax Manager to spearhead their ultra-high net worth (UHNW) and high net worth (HNW) wealth services practice. This executive-level position demands a distinguished tax professional with deep expertise in managing the most complex tax matters for ultra-affluent individuals, multi-generational families, and their sophisticated business enterprises. The ideal candidate will drive strategic client relationships, lead advanced tax initiatives, oversee substantial practice operations, and play a key role in firm leadership while managing significant revenue responsibility.



Key Responsibilities



Strategic Client Leadership

  • Serve as trusted advisor and primary relationship owner for premier UHNW clients with net worth exceeding $25M
  • Lead comprehensive wealth planning initiatives spanning multiple generations and complex family dynamics
  • Orchestrate seamless coordination with clients' elite advisory teams including top-tier investment banks, private wealth managers, and prominent estate planning counsel
  • Chair executive-level client meetings and board presentations on sophisticated tax and wealth strategies
  • Oversee crisis management and complex problem resolution for high-profile client situations


Advanced Tax Strategy & Wealth Planning

  • Architect and implement cutting-edge tax strategies for ultra-high net worth families and entrepreneurs
  • Design sophisticated wealth transfer structures including grantor trusts, charitable lead trusts, and installment sales to defective trusts
  • Provide strategic guidance on complex business succession planning, including leveraged recapitalizations and management buyouts
  • Lead tax optimization for alternative investments including private equity, hedge funds, real estate funds, and venture capital structures
  • Advise on international tax planning for global families with cross-border assets and multi-jurisdictional tax obligations


Practice Leadership & Operations

  • Oversee substantial practice revenue responsibility ($2M+ annually) with accountability for profitability and growth
  • Lead strategic practice development initiatives and service line expansion for wealth services
  • Direct quality control and risk management protocols for the most sensitive client engagements
  • Manage resource allocation and capacity planning across multiple complex client portfolios
  • Drive technology initiatives and process improvements to enhance service delivery efficiency


Team Development & Leadership Excellence

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 8-12 tax professionals including managers, senior associates, and specialists
  • Provide advanced technical training on sophisticated tax concepts and UHNW client relationship management
  • Conduct comprehensive performance evaluations and succession planning for key team members
  • Foster an environment of technical excellence, innovation, and exceptional client service
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the tax practice


Business Development & Thought Leadership

  • Drive new business development with target revenue growth of $500K+ annually from new relationships
  • Lead strategic partnerships with wealth management firms, family offices, and investment advisory practices
  • Represent the firm as a thought leader through speaking engagements at prestigious industry conferences
  • Author technical articles and whitepapers on advanced tax planning strategies for publication in leading professional journals
  • Participate in elite professional organizations and serve on industry committees and boards


Firm Leadership & Strategic Initiatives

  • Contribute to firm-wide strategic planning and operational decision-making as a senior leader
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives involving audit, advisory, and wealth management service lines
  • Participate in partner meetings and contribute to major firm decisions affecting practice direction
  • Mentor emerging leaders and contribute to firm-wide talent development initiatives
  • Champion innovation and best practices across all service areas


Required Qualifications



Education & Professional Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from a top-tier university
  • Active CPA license in New Jersey (required)
  • Master's degree in Taxation from accredited program (strongly preferred)
  • Additional advanced certifications preferred (PFS, EA, or equivalent)


Experience & Expertise

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive public accounting experience with specialization in UHNW taxation
  • Extensive track record managing ultra-high net worth clients with complex, multi-generational wealth structures
  • Proven success in leading large, complex tax engagements with revenue responsibility exceeding $1M annually
  • Demonstrated experience in practice leadership, business development, and team management
  • History of managing relationships with sophisticated clients including entrepreneurs, executives, and multi-generational families


Technical Mastery

  • Expert-level knowledge of advanced tax planning strategies for ultra-high net worth individuals
  • Deep expertise in sophisticated trust and estate planning, including complex charitable giving strategies
  • Comprehensive understanding of international tax planning and cross-border wealth structures
  • Advanced knowledge of partnership taxation, consolidated returns, and complex entity structuring
  • Expertise in transaction-based tax planning including M&A, private equity, and real estate transactions
